# Olde Colesdon Archers
Olde Colesdon Archers is a target archery club based at Chipstead Valley Primary School in Surrey, affiliated with ArcheryGB, Surrey Archery, and the Southern Counties Archery Society. Since 2007, the club has cultivated a welcoming community for archers of all ages and abilities, from beginners aged 8 to experienced competitors in their late 80s.
The club caters to diverse archery disciplines, with members shooting recurve, compound, barebow, and longbow. Whether you're seeking competitive development or recreational enjoyment, OCA serves both ambitions equally. The club has produced archers competing at county level whilst maintaining a fun, inclusive atmosphere that prioritises camaraderie alongside achievement.
What sets Olde Colesdon Archers apart is its deliberate balance between serious sport and social engagement. Beyond regular Sunday shooting year-round and Wednesday evening sessions during summer, the club organises distinctive events including an annual Agincourt shoot—where members split into English and French teams for barebow competition—a club BBQ, and a Christmas sweater shoot. This calendar of social activities builds genuine community bonds.
The location offers excellent accessibility, sitting within walking distance of Woodmansterne rail station (20 minutes from Croydon) and served by the 166 bus route. This makes the club genuinely accessible to South London and Greater London archers without requiring private transport.
OCA succeeds by refusing the stereotype that archery clubs are purely competitive environments. Instead, they've created a sustainable, inclusive space where archers develop skills, achieve their goals, and build lasting friendships.
