Droitwich Archery Society is a community-focused archery club serving Worcestershire and the wider West Midlands region. The society specialises in introducing beginners to archery through structured, professionally-delivered courses that follow the full Archery GB beginners' syllabus. All equipment is provided, removing barriers to entry for newcomers.
The club operates from two locations: a private field near Hanbury for summer shooting and Droitwich High School gymnasium for winter sessions. This dual-facility approach enables year-round participation regardless of weather conditions. Members range across all ages and skill levels, practising multiple bow styles including Recurve, Compound, Barebow, Longbow and American Flatbow.
What distinguishes Droitwich Archery Society is its welcoming approach combined with serious competitive credentials. The club is affiliated with County of Worcester Archery Association, West Midlands Archery Society and Archery GB, hosting events including their annual UK Record Status WA Combined Tournament. Members regularly compete at county, regional and national level, whilst the society also organises clout shoots and various target archery competitions.
Rather than being purely competitive, the club emphasises sociability and inclusivity. New members—whether complete beginners or experienced archers—are actively encouraged to join. The structured beginners' courses run several times annually, with qualified coaches and experienced archers ensuring proper instruction. Upon completing a course, participants can join Droitwich or another Archery GB club of their choice.
